Buchanan Orthotics Launches the Dictus Range of Orthotic Devices in UK

Buchanan Orthotics is excited to announce the launch of the Dictus range of orthotic devices, designed to help people with foot drop walk more easily. Designed in Sweden by Eridmed. Foot drop is a condition that can make it difficult to lift the front of your foot, which can lead to tripping and falls. The Dictus range of orthotic devices can help to improve your gait and reduce your risk of falls.

The Dictus range includes three different devices:

• Dictus Flex: A lightweight and flexible ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) that is designed for everyday wear for foot drop.
• Dictus Original: A more supportive AFO that is ideal for people with more severe foot drop.
• Dictus Hip: A hip joint abduction orthosis that can help to improve gait in people with hip weakness.

Dictus Flex

Dictus Flex is a discreet aid that fits shoes with laces for both children and adults. It consists of an ankle strap, a flex rubber band and a fastening device that is mounted in the shoe. The ankle strap is easily attached around the leg with velcro and stays comfortable all day. The ankle strap is made of genuine leather that gets more comfortable with each use. The ankle strap is connected to the fastening device in the shoe through a flex rubber band with two integrated Velcro plates. The flex rubber band provides stable support for the foot and can easily be tightened as much as the user wishes.

Dictus Original

Discreet and comfortable aid for all drop foot patients

Dictus Original is a discreet aid suitable for both children and adults. The band is easily attached around the ankle with velcro and stays comfortable all day. The ankle strap is made of genuine leather that is soft against the skin and gets more comfortable with each use. On the front part of the ankle strap there is a D-ring through which the included soft rubber strap is threaded. It is then attached to the hooks mounted in the shoe's lacing loops. When the user walks with the Dictus band, the foot is automatically lifted by the rubber band.

Dictus Hip

Dictus Hip gives security and freedom to users with weakness in the leg(s).

The Dictus band has for many years helped users with dropsy back to an active life. With Dictus Hip, the Dictus family is completed to help users with walking difficulties due to weakened leg muscles, weakened hip flexors and foot flexors.

The Dictus hip comes in two versions

Dictus Hip-Knee  consists of a comfortable hip belt and elastic rubber band that is attached to the thigh.

Dictus HIP-Foot  consists of a comfortable hip belt and elastic rubber band with knee band that is attached to the foot part.

 

The rubber bands assist with hip flexion. The level and pulling direction of the assistance can be easily set according to the user's needs, easy to change the pulling direction of flexion, adduction, internal rotation. If Dictus HIP-Foot is used, the foot inversion can also be corrected.

Indications for use

• Decreased muscle strength – difficulty flexing/lifting at the hip, knee and foot
• Circumduction in the aisle
• Difficult to bring the leg/foot
• Stroke
• MS (Multiple Sclerosis)
